Fishing 27-36: Crimson Isle lava fishing

Fishing 27-36

From Fishing 27, lava fishing on the Crimson Isle is the main XP method in both the wiki guide and forum advice. With an average setup players report about 300-800k Fishing XP/hr. It gets much better as you unlock the Inferno Rod, Hellfire Rod and Thunder Armor, and it needs a strong weapon such as a Hyperion.

Steps

  1. Rods: Magma Rod (27), Inferno Rod (30), Hellfire Rod (35).
  2. Armor: keep Shark Scale Armor, then build the lava sea creature pieces up to the Taurus Helmet (35), then Thunder Armor (36).
  3. Fish inside Crimson Isle hotspots when possible.
  4. Use Fish Bait for Fishing Speed. Pet: Ammonite.
  5. Kill with a Hyperion; a Flaming Flay is better for mobs that resist magic.

In its favour

  • Always available, unlike festivals
  • Builds Magmafish collection for the better lava rods

Against it

  • The wiki guide says without a Hyperion or Flaming Flay it is only about as good as Stridersurfer fishing
  • Weak weapons make rates no better than water fishing

Tips from the sources

  • Thunder needs Fishing 36 and the Novice Trophy Fisher rank from Odger, so start trophy fishing early.
