Public islands are only an introduction to Farming. Once the Garden is unlocked, the wiki calls it the only viable place to farm: public islands are crowded and don't allow custom farms, and Farming Fortune is disabled on your Private Island. Sam on your Private Island gives access to it.

Steps
- Before the Garden: farm on the Hub and the Farming Islands (The Barn, Mushroom Desert).
- Unlock the Garden through Sam on your Private Island.
- Unlock plots with Compost and clear them with a Sam's Scythe, Garden Scythe or Plot Eraser.
- Paste a crop preset or build your own farm on the Garden.
- Crimson Isle crops (Mushroom Spores, Red Thornleaf) and Rift crops can't be planted there; farm those on their own islands.
Tips from the sources
- The Replenish enchant (Cocoa Beans 8) replants crops as you harvest.
- The Delicate enchant (from Anita) keeps Pumpkin and Melon stems and unripe crops from breaking.
